I've Google searched the forum for similar topics but found nothing, so here it is.
I've noticed that all half beams have wrong snap points. They're in the middle of the half beam, not on its side. The unit of the medium grid is half stud, so snaps in half beams should always be either on one side or the other.
You may already know the result of this bug is that if any part gets snapped to a half beam, it will be misaligned off the snapping grid by a quarter of a lego unit. So every time this happens, a precise manual relocation is needed and it takes a lot more time.
Some special half beams like 87408 do actually have right snaps placement, so I'm confident that all other half beams could get fixed.
Thank you for reading
Yes these half beams have been annoying. I may look into it at some stage.
in the meantime, you can use 32006 (Technic lever 4m, in the half-beams category) to fix this, as it has both a correctly placed snap point (on the end with 2 half-beams width) and the incorrectly placed snaps (on its other three holes) so it can be used to snap at 1/2 beam offsets. still annoying and somewhat tedious, but a bit less so than trying to get things lined up manually all the time.
This doesn´t work either because 32006 only has snap points at the flat side 😦. But this Topic didn´t interest for nearly 2 Years. I think this won´t change anymore
