Transparent parts grainy
jamesn started this discussion in Model Export and Render

Hello! I'm messing around with Blender and I find that my transparent pieces come out a bit grainy. Is there an efficient way to improve rendering of transparent objects? Currently I'm brute-forcing it by doubling the number of samples per pixel over the entire image, but that seems a bit of a waste.

Thank you all.

I've never had any problems with grainy renders, These are the settings that I use;

First increase the Max Transparency bounces in the Light Paths tab. Then set Clamp Direct and Clamp Indirect in the Sampling tab both to 1, this will reduce noise all round. Finally, in Render Layers turn on Denoising, the difference this makes to the final image quality is astounding.

Thank you for the suggestions, ThreeMotors!
