Mecabricks workshop should have a setting where you can change from a black theme from a white theme. It already has a black theme but some people will like building models in a white theme too. There are other websites where you can change from black to white, like http://www.jsfiddle.net .
I agree on this one! It would be nice to be able to switch to a brighter background in design mode. I don't bother about the UI color scheme for buttons and menus but just to change the background of the model, like you can do when you set a background in render mode.
