Learning 3D modelling and modelling Lego parts
Aled started this discussion in Parts and Decorations Design

Hi! Apologies if this has been addressed before. If so please link me to the thread.

I'm interested in learning 3D modelling and would love to (someday) be able to contribute to Mecabricks. Not sure if parts can be modelled and submitted by users or if it is just decoration designs.

I'm under no allusions as to the learning curve with 3D modelling. It is a long-term endeavour. If there is any discussion or tutorials on how to get into 3D modelling - specifically for Lego then I'd really appreciate it. Cheers!

Hello,
Yes it is possible to submit new parts for review. However on the contrary of decorations, it is a lot more complicated and they need to go through my strict quality control process 😛

You can start by this old post here in the forum: https://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/15
I do everything in Blender but any software could work.
The next step is to watch and re-watch hundreds of online tutorials about modeling.

Much appreciated. I learned everything I know by online tutorials so I'm ready for the ascent. It's clear from the collection and library that there is a high level of quality control.

Hi Scrubs!

There are some electric parts in stud.io program like IR receiver, Lmotor, etc. It is possible import to MECKA?
