"Hey everybody, I hope this isn't wrong to post here, but I was wondering if I could have some help with rendering my project. I'll be using Sheep It, and it will most likely get blocked, however, I'll still be able to render myself. So I'm wondering if you guys would be willing to render under my name with a public key.
If you do, I'll put you (if you have a Sheep It account) on my list of priority users. This means that when I'm rendering with Sheep It, your project will automatically be rendered (in part) by me instead of another user's project being assigned.
Thanks for your time, and if you don't want to help out, there is no hard feelings. π
I'll send the key via private message if interested.
Thanks again!"
FROM SAMINO:
@Masman8675 I can help! Any extra SheepIt! points are welcome. Do you have a time estimate for the render? If it is more than 5-7 hours, you would probably have to wait until the weekend. Then, I can render a frame with a time of 20+ hours! π
FROM MASMAN8675:
@Samino You'd use my username and public key for it to work, so I think the points would go to my account, if any are generated. If it generates a lot of points, I guess I could render with a public key from you for a bit. π
My time estimate: A LONG TIME π I did a test at 52 samples and it took 3hrs and 11 mins on a 3.30GHz Quad Core. π
Preferably I will render tomorrow, as the deadline is coming up fast and I want some time to put it through post production. π
FROM SAMINO:
@Masman8675 Okay. Well, at least I would be helping the competition... that doesn't sound right... π
"A LONG TIME π" doesn't really help... I have an i7-6500U 2.50GHz Quad Core on my computer, only problem is, it is rated "unstable". So I turn rendering projects over to other computers. π I prefer to use a non-rendering computer too. I can do a max render time of nine hours on Thursday or Friday though.
FROM MASMAN8675:
@Samino Yea, it sounds really weird, that's why I was a little concerned to ask. π
Well, doing some quick math (which may or may not be right), the estimated time would be approximately 73.46 Hours. That being on one computer.
Logic behind estimation: 191 minutes Γ· 52 samples = 3.673 Minutes Per Sample x 1200 Samples = 4407.6 Mins Γ· 60 = 73.46 Hours.
Now, I really hope it won't take that long when split up, lol.
No need to reply now, I've got another method sorted out.
This is making me nervous about my chances in the contest π If you do still need rendering help, I'd gladly volunteer my computer though. It's not doing anything right now anyway π
I'm nervous I won't get mine in. π
Thanks for volunteering to volunteer, but I have my friend rendering it for me. Mind you, if you have a processor or GPU faster than a Ryzen 5 1600, then I'll gladly take the help. π
I do have a GTX 970, IDK if that's faster or not. The issue is probably going to be my internet if it's a large .Blend file but I can always download stuff overnight. And if you're okay with me uploading a .jpg π
I have a little older workstation i use for sheepit with a Geforce GTX Titan gpu and a Intel i7-3970x cpu, 64gb ram, if you need any help just let me know...
I've got the render now, and I'm entered. So I don't need any help with this specific project, but if I am in need for rendering assistance in the future I'll be sure to ask you guys. Thanks for your willingness to help! π
I just saw it, it came out awesome! I'd be glad to help with any of your future projects, too. I know the pain of not having a capable computer, I had an ancient Core2 machine for forever π
Thanks! π Well, it's not that it's incapable most of the time, typically I'm okay, but when it comes to deadlines approaching quickly, or animations, I need something faster. π
Hi guys, my job PC is not that much powerful (core i7, shitty GC) but it's online almost h24 with priority to MB projects π
Hey mathieub, sorry for the (very) late reply!
Thanks for letting us/me know!
I look forward to doing business with you in the future. π
