Downloading .mb file

When working in the workshop, in the left bottom corner you can see that the file is in .mb format.
Is that the maya binary format?
if so, it would be nice to be able to download that file and directly opening it in Maya.

Nope. Nothing to do with Maya. mb stands for Mecabricks which is generally the acronym used for the website.
