Hi, I am currently working on a pretty big build and was thinking that it would be a good idea to develop a tool that would enable people to change the color of multiple selected Lego pieces at once.

I believe it already works this way. If you select several parts by pressing Ctrl + Click all the highlighted parts will become the color you choose in the palette.
In addition, if you want to change all the bricks from one color to another, you can use the selection tool to select all the bricks. For example, click the white arrow icon at the top of the left toolbar, then choose "Color", and click on a brick, and all elements of that color will get selected. Then you can just click your new color and all of them will change.
