Blender Offset Variation and Surface Imperfection Control

Dear Scrubs, or anyone who has the bandwidth and ability, as a feature request, could I please ask that you consider building into your Blender Template Scene or Script a global rotation/position/scale offset variation control? Like you have done color already. When I look at some of the amazing renders guys like Zanna are doing, they have probably done this manually. It would be amazing for any Mecabricks user to have an easy way to affect all bricks in a model this way in Blender, and for everyone to be aware of this phenomenon and use it in their renders.

Also please consider imperfection control, (perhaps someone like Zanna could help so this in Blender?) it could work like the bump texture you've built into the diagonal faces, but having a choice between using bump or displacement instead, with various noise patterns filtered by other noise (fractal) patterns to affect edges only or larger faces and different types of damage like dents or scratches etc.

This is a hard thing to automate.
If I add a rotation and position offset control, it will be in the Mecabricks exporter side. e.g. an option to tick like for the LEGO logo. However on the contrary of a manual process, it is likely that there will be collisions between parts.

Regarding imperfection like scratches or fingerprint, it is more complicated. First because if you do it for every brick in the scene, it will increase the render time and memory by a lot and we all know that in LEGO models, a lot of the pieces are hidden and therefore don't really require those effects. Secondly, not all pieces have a uv map and when available, it is optimised for Mecabricks.

Nothing is worth the human eye 😉

Thanks Scrubs! I get it, and of course its not worth pursuing a law of diminishing returns.

😃

Hey Scrubs, just wanted to let you know what kind of ads are being shown on your site.

I can't paste a screenshot but it's advertising a site called MGirls as a subscription service for videos

Does not look good

All the best

Hey,
Not really my fault. It is simply Google Ads. It is related to you previous browsing, your geographic location, etc.
