I am pleased to announce the Unofficial, Unauthorized, Mecabricks SHIPtember contest! SHIPtember is a contest on Flickr where competitors build huge SHIPs, Seriously Huge Investments in Parts, of spaceships. Now, the limited processing power at my disposal probably could not handle a genuine 100+ stud long SHIP, so my challenge is 50-65 studs, hence the name, "miniSHIPtember". Here are the rules:
-Must be a spacehip.
-Must be tagged, "SHIPtember"
-Must be 40-65 studs long. Slight overages are allowed at my discretion.
-No part intersections.
-Must be micro scale.
Must have a name.
-Backstories and renderings a plus but not required.
The winner of this contest will receive one genuine Internet Point, the best prize I could find for free. Please comment to let me know you have entered or will be entering. Comments? Questions? Think this is the worst idea you've ever heard? Please let me know. Perhaps if this is a success I'll start a MA.Ktober challenge next month, also completely unauthorized and unofficial.
I'll do this! They don't have to be minifigure scale, right? Can I use parts in colors that they don't exist in in real life? Is there a recommended part count?
I'm in
@Microspaceguy I'd prefer that they weren't minifigure scale, actually. Thanks for bringing that up. You can use any colors you want, and probably under 1500 pieces. I can only use MB on an iPad Mini and an ancient Mac, so neither of them can support much more than that.
I'll give this a try !
Edit : here is my entry 😄 : [mecabricks]LGVjK5XAanz[/mecabricks]
I'm interested. Deadline is the 30th right?
@Masman8675 Indeed it is.
@mathieub Looks good. I think yours is the first submission!
I think also, at least there is no other model flagged SHIPtember for 2016. Fingers crossed 😄
Okay, here's mine! http://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/EAbjpW7q25y
It's made up of 874 pieces, so it shouldn't kill you iPad or computer. 😛
Nice ! I see we have a different approach 😉 but maybe I'll need your protection while exploring deep space !
Thanks! Yes, we sure do. 😛 I like yours too by the way. 😃
If you ever need my services, just let me know... 😜
I posted my entry! It is tagged, so you can find it that way. And by the way, what is "MA.Ktober?"
Hey JD430w, should we prolong the deadline due to the low entry amount?
@masman8675 Changing the viewer to a link fixed it. I'll give it until Sunday and if there are no more entries I'll pick a winner. Do you think that will work?
Okay. I think it will.
I don't know if this goes here, but the next contest could be designing a custom Lego Dimensions set.
Results coming soon!
Hey, I like the Dimensions Idea. That would be fun.
Looking forward to it!
And the winner is...
@Masman8675!
Congratulations, and thanks to all who participated!
Thank you JD430w! If there was a podium I'd get Mathieub and MicrospaceGuy to come up with me, but being as there isn't one, I guess I'll have to tell you guys to imagine it.
So, imagine yourself in minifigure form up there with me. Thanks again!
Yay! Congratulations! I'm glad I at least made the podium, as I'm so young and have never entered a contest that this made me very happy.
