I finished my Helicarrier model but it will not export. On Firefox I get a spinning disk which goes away and nothing happens after that (the save file dialog never shows). On Chrome I get an unresponsive script message two or three times (I click wait), and then it pops to the Aww Snap! screen and reloads mecabricks.
Exporting Colladae with Lego Logo not grouped. Files are HC_SUB_43 and HC_SUB_46.
It's because bigger models require more time/resources to export and some browsers (if not all) will fail at some point and give up. That's what happening in Chrome.
Turning off LEGO logo's helps in most of the cases. But if you're really wanting to export it with, then I advise you to have other programs closed while you're exporting. This way, the browser you're using to export, has all resources/time to prepare the export. And while it's doing his work, cross your fingers 😉
Also, perhaps saying "yes" to grouping could help. 😃
The hellicarrier with no grouping is more than likely to fail. Which software will you import it in?
I import into blender, the problem is the animations I make have all been imported Colladae with logo's no grouping, I will try it with the grouping but not sure if that will impact my workflow and scripting to identify and move all of the pieces. (time to re invent the wheel I guess).
Regarding other things, I tried on my i5Mac and an I7 Windows both with 16gb ram, both rebooted with nothing running. no dice.
Hi. It is not only the computer but the browser limitations. Without one of the group options ticked, models like the Helicarrier will not export without crashing. Nothing I can do for now. I doubt that it will cause any issues in Blender unless your script modifies the meshes.
Try Firefox to export. It goes way faster than Chrome for this task and is able to export bigger models.
Thanks scrubs, that did the trick, amazingly I believe it just fixed another problem I had to manually work around on part locations after rotating and scaling 😃. I need to be less pessimistic.
Thanks again for a great site.
Hehe, no problem. Happy that I could help 😉
