I mostly work on the medium grid, since it works well to position and adjust parts, but occasionally, I switch to the small grid in order to move parts into their proper position (e.g. after rotating). I never use the large grid. The keyboard shortcut Q helps me to quickly toggle between the grids. Now, here the issue:
After switching to the small grid and moving or rotating a part into position, I quite often forget to go back to the medium grid. Usually I realize that only after attempting to move another part with the result, that I have to undo the last action (which also drops my selection), press two times Q to switch back to the medium grid, reselect my part(s) and move or rotate again.
Apart from my intention to stay more focused while working in order to not forget to toggle the grid before the next action, I have been thinking about a possible workflow improvement. Hence I'd like to suggest the following workflow improvement:
I believe that this would be a useful enhancement saving users quite a few clicks, as parts could be moved or rotated on different grids in one go (first roughly, then precisely, for example), and avoid abovementioned problem of forgotten grid size switching and subsequent unintended movements of parts on the wrong grid.
Comments from others regarding this topic welcome.
I agree with this, and while it's not been a huge trouble for me in the past, I have run into the same issues and it would help make my workflow smoother as well.
Hello, it is not a bad idea. I will look into that when I ll come back in a few weeks. You can also cancel a transformation by pressing the ESC key.
