Hello, I'm new to Mecabricks, but I've been using MLCad and LDD for years. And noticed that the import/export function of Mecabricks is very limited. It would be cool if I could import my models from or export to MLCad or LDD. Just wondering if that's under consideration?
Also, I like how well Mecabricks works on a PC. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 smart phone, and Mecabricks also works on that using FireFox. The page layout is a little screwy, but at least I can now build on the go.
Hello and welcome!
I didn't really optimise it for touch device yet. I know that it roughly works as I tried on my wife's iPad 😃
Export/import to and from ldd and ldraw is a huge work. Not so much at a code level but to maintain the conversion database is a massive work. Part origin position and orientation are different in the 3 systems which means that you need to record the transformation matrices for every single piece. It's without talking about differences in part references and flexible pieces...
I know that it would be a nice to have feature but I not ready to commit months of works when I can spend my time improving the website and part library.
One day maybe... 😉
That's ok, it's kind of fun to go back and rebuild stuff anyway.
Here's some screenshots of what Mecabricks looks like on my phone.

I have to scroll up and down to select bricks and colors. And the work area is a little small, but it does work.
Phone screens are a bit small to put all the information 😉
With a tablet it is not that screwed and it would be ideal to get good optimized controls - current ones are not that bad but there are glitches any now and then.
Your right, most phone screens are kind of small. But mine has a 5.7 inch screen with a very accurate stylus. If you could just put something in the code to allow the resizing of the work area and maybe add a switch to switch the brick and color selections to drop down menus it might work better on more devices.
