For those that want to rebuild their models out of existing models/sets, and want to use the same parts again, this would be an excellent tool.
Disassemble!
Basically you either select a group, manually marquee select a bunch of bricks, or it can auto-select everything in the scene, and the tool will break apart every piece and line them up in a few neat rows flat on the ground a respectable distance from the center.
Perhaps there are options to rearrange the rows according to color, or size, or whatever.
That way, you don't have to hunt down every piece again, cutting down your time from hours to just one or two clicks!
Of course, I don't know a thing about programming, so it's totally up to Scrub to tell me if it'll take 9 years to program this or its not worth the trouble for just a few people that might use it. >_>
Just throwing ideas around 😄
A much more appreciated way would be to start with some kind of basket. Part inventories are available from brickset. Pulling that in would allow us to make sets even faster because now we have to search through all kind of folders or find the number on brickset.
