Model Exportation Limitation

Hello,

In the past few days I noticed a number of users who abused of the export function, the last one today exporting 683 models in the space of a few hours. It is pretty simple to know what they are trying to do - export the parts one by one to be used in other projects.

The Mecabricks part library is not free to use.

Part designs belong to the LEGO® Company but 3D model / decoration files on mecabricks belongs to their respective designers.

Therefore, I decided to apply a limit to the number of models that can be exported over a rolling period of 24 hours. It is currently set to 10. However I don't want to penalise users who are using the function for what it is - rendering, saving their models, etc. So if you think the limit is too low, let me know and I have no problem to raise it a bit further.

From now, users must also be email verified in order to export models.

Hope you understand my situation.

Oh my God... can you see what they download?
If so, you could block those accounts doing this "trick" -_-

I don't really want to block people and it would not be very efficient anyway I think. I prefer a soft method and I think that it won't be visible for most users who are using mecabricks normally. Let's see.

By the way I think that the limit of 20 is more than enough: I've downloaded a maximum 3 models in one day 😛

Sheesh. People are annoying. I think 20 is plenty high scrubs!

20 is indeed a little bit high. That's also my opinion. How about 8-12?

Changed to 10.

For the future it will make sense to have different levels of user permissions from 10 (new or unknown) to unlimited (Super Users supporting MB you trust). 😃

I see I hit that limit already when I'm trying to download my gallery 😛 Went on the forums and saw this thread. Can you make it so the original makers of the models can download their own models without limit?

Hi,

I just hit the limit, which makes me think it is a bit low 😛 . As a new user, I am still experimenting, which also means realizing mistakes during rendering or wanting to try out new stuff. I wanted to re-export a model with the lego logo and found out about the limit. I wish it would be somewhat higher.

By the way, when does it reset? 24 hours after the first export or everydays at midnight?

Thanks

I am actually supposed to rethink the limit system to allow users partaking in the website to have a higher limit or even waive it.
Currently it is a rolling limit, you get another export 24 hours after the first export you did. e.g. you exported a model every hour from 9am till 18pm (10 models). Your next available export will be at 9am the next day and the next one after that at 10am, etc.

Love Mecabricks and love the export version to render my designs. When working on a complicated design, I find mistakes after rendering. Is there the possibility to pay a donation to support Mecabricks and receive a higher allowance in exports?

So I just ran into this when trying to export a good number of models from my Library, can I some how get more model exports per day or something? Its really frustrating when I want to export large models that I have cut into 20 or more parts so I can import them into blender, and as well if I import individual Lego guys 😕
