Importing models as separate bricks
Deltian started this discussion in Suggestions and Ideas

Hey Scrubs
When I made my first model and imported it as .obj file to Vue Xstream, I noticed imported models cannot be split into separate bricks as subobjects. Have you ever thought about people that wish to make films with Mecabricks models (and minifigs) and could animate parts of these models to bring them life? At the time it is not possible, because bricks in imported models cannot be selected separately from them in graphics programs.
I hope you'll be able to make this possible in Mecabricks, just think even about how wonderful 3D films would be made with Lego models from Mecabricks.

Hello,

Normally, bricks are exported as single objects if you use the OBJ or Collada exporter. I never used Vue Xtream but it seems to work well in other software like Blender or Modo.

By the way, I would recommend using the Collada exporter as it retains bricks origin/tranformation which makes it easier if you want to move them in your software. If possible, also choose option "Group by Geometry" if Vue Xtream supports it.
